Pink Emeralds?

Well, not quite. Emeralds belong to the Beryl family. In pure form colorless as with most minerals. Diamonds range from colorless to tinted and further on to fancy colors because of specific impurities. So having impurities isn't really such a bad thing per se. Chromium gives emeralds their characteristic green color (top colors have a tinge of blue). Iron is responsible for the aquamarine's light bluish green color; which resembles that of the sea hence its name. There is yellow or golden beryl, sometimes called Heliodor, depending on its saturation (light yellow to deep gold). Also caused by iron. A combination of manganese and iron give morganites their pale pink color. It's steadily becoming one of the more popular beryl variants. And interesting to point out it got it's name in honor of the American banker JP Morgan, who had a consuming passion for collecting rare minerals and gemstones.

Inset are trilliant cut orangey-pink morganite earrings with diamonds and London blue topaz briolettes as detachable drop set in white gold. As part of the Orientalism collection. More pieces in store at Aum Jewels Trinoma and at Firma Greenbelt 3.
