Green Amethysts

Amethysts have been known to be of purple hue ever since. But "new" gem varieties have been coming out and been made use in fine jewelry of late. One of these "newer" varieties include green amethysts; essentially green colored quartz (as amethysts are purple colored quartz). It provides a very different, more transparent, shade of green as compared to, say, emeralds and peridots. And more colors only mean more choices, which is a good thing.

Inset are drop earrings and a cocktail ring of green amethysts and pave diamonds set in rose and white gold.

Garden Variety

Green seems to be a popular color nowadays. So here's our take. Earrings of peridot and diamonds set in yellow gold. With phrenite cabochon drops. Cool and calming.

Ceramic Link

Drop earrings of pave diamonds in white gold and some high-tech ceramic links. Seemingly fragile, these pearlescent white links are extremely tough and can withstand day-to-day wear with ease. Clean, simple lines but bold enough to wear from day to night.

Ruby Cabs

I notice I've been doing a few items with rubies lately. Here are a pair of earrings with Thai ruby cabochons, green sapphires and diamonds set in yellow gold. Cabochons (or cabs for short for those in the trade) are stones with flat bottoms and domed tops. This style of cutting was designed to bring out deeper colors in gemstones. As with these slightly purplish reds.

Baroques

While round, white south sea pearls are the standard, there's just something magnetic about baroque pearls. The free-form shapes and crevices create interesting play of light on the surface. Good specimens possess excellent luster that borders on the metallic but still retains that natural look. Inset are silvery baroque Tahitian pearls, about 16 by 19mm, set in minimalist coral inspired branch earrings with diamonds. In white gold.

Bridge Ring V.2

A concept extension from the previous Bridge Ring, here's the updated version using diamonds and rubies set in white and rose gold.

The diamond pave bar goes across a few fingers when worn and gives the illusion that it's floating. Simple, clean lines. AND looks cool.

Christmas Danglers

Multi-colored sapphire pave drop earrings with diamonds in yellow and white gold. Don't they look like Christmas tree ornaments? Ok, so maybe that's not too romantic an analogy but nonetheless they make for some versatile work to party earrings; the sapphire pave drop can be detached and you can use the white gold and diamond hoops separately.

Fleur-de-lis

Here's something sure to endure all trends. A friend of mine had some antique jewelry with old mine cut diamonds and wanted them redone. Wanting to enhance the exoticism of these stones I designed them in an updated Edwardian style; using a fleur-de-lis motif and millgraining technique (those bead like outlines on the metal). Articulated and sways freely on the ear.  Surely doing something ultra-modern and angular wouldn't have done the diamonds any justice. Classic cut diamonds in a classic setting. Sometimes tradition is the best option.
