Notch Ring on Rogue

notched egde

Another bespoke project made from a few rings. The owner wanted to incorporate most, if not all, of the diamonds from her heirloom pieces to create one substantial piece. The result is this masculine ring with pave diamonds on a notched edge over one side, channel set baguette diamonds running on two faces and the larger round diamond bezel set off center. All set in multi-textured white gold. Seems massive but its unbelievable easy to wear. A current favorite.

Check the very same ring out in this month's issue of Rogue Magazine.

Many thanks to L.A. Consing Lopez and Sarto

Green Amethysts

Amethysts have been known to be of purple hue ever since. But "new" gem varieties have been coming out and been made use in fine jewelry of late. One of these "newer" varieties include green amethysts; essentially green colored quartz (as amethysts are purple colored quartz). It provides a very different, more transparent, shade of green as compared to, say, emeralds and peridots. And more colors only mean more choices, which is a good thing.

Inset are drop earrings and a cocktail ring of green amethysts and pave diamonds set in rose and white gold.

“Art Deco Inspired”…

emerald cut and pave ring

...is how you would probably describe this ring. Not quite Deco per se but quite contemporary with a moderne twist. Four emerald cut diamonds about 0.50cts each are surrounded by a curved diamond pave surface. Definitely not lacking bling.

Bridge Ring V.2

ellipse bridge ring er in rubies set in rose gold and white gold with pave diamonds

A concept extension from the previous Bridge Ring, here's the updated version using diamonds and rubies set in white and rose gold.

The diamond pave bar goes across a few fingers when worn and gives the illusion that it's floating. Simple, clean lines. AND looks cool.

Available at Firma Greenbelt 3 as part of the Triad/Futurism collection.

Forever-ever-ever…

DVwb

Lots of weddings this time of the year hence the wedding related posts.

Wedding bands are traditionally plain round rings. Essentially circles symbolizing fidelity and unending love. For this project, the groom wanted to wear his wedding band on a chain later on, for what purpose I don't really know, but here I decided to put five large perforations across the shank. Looks quite industrial with the brushed metal surface. The holes will serve as the lasso to which the chain will be threaded later on. So I guess that solves the ring/pendant part. For the bride, she just wanted lots of circles. I was sent a sketch and translated the design into white gold, with diamonds scattered all around the band. It seemed like two completely disjointed concepts as I was sketching it out. But in the end they looked great together. And so do the couple.

Fancy Colored Diamonds

Conventional wisdom states that white, or colorless diamonds, are best. But there are exceptions; and they are known as fancy colored diamonds. Technically any other color than clear or white, and its range of yellowish or brownish tints are labeled "fancy" colors. Thanks to J.Lo's huge pink engagement ring Et al...  we probably have an idea what colored colored diamonds are. But how would one know what they actually look like? The colors will definitely be unmistakable. The combination of the vivid hues and the characteristic sharp brilliance of the diamonds make it truly stunning to look at.

Shown here are rings and drop earrings in vivid yellow, light pink and E-F colored diamonds (over 12 carats in total) in tri-color gold setting. So nice that the ring didn't quite make it to the store display. Oh lucky you.

Everyday

That was one of the requirements during the design process of this ring: something one can wear everyday. Simple but not simplistic. Diamonds but not over the top. I think we just got on the same page the very first minute we discussed it and I came back with a sketch shortly after.

I was the one excited to actually make this ring as it sort of brought back the architectural feel of my first collection (more details about this soon!).The end result turned out great; diamonds across fingers, strong, clean and modern but still feminine.

Summer Ring

Bold-colored Mexican fire opals and diamonds set in textured yellow gold. The almost day-glow green patches/flashes on the orange stones are the "play-of-color" naturally found in fire opals. They appear/disappear depending on the viewing angle. Quite interactive. While most opals are mined in Australia and are usually found in white and black body colors with multi-colored flashes; fire opals are generally sourced in volcanic rock formations in Southern Mexico and are obviously named after their striking color.

Here's to a hot summer....
